HOURS - Time Tracking / Estimate

Marcelo Torres Bukin (4186) | asked Aug 02 '11, 4:46 p.m.
In RTC, one of the Work Items that we have modeled (based on OPAL process) is Requirements.

We have also built a template: each Requirement is created with linked tasks.

Our "problem" is how to enter the estimated and real hours.

What I mean is that, today we have no choice but to introduce the hours (Time Tracking and Estimate ) for each task, and we have many tasks for each Requirement. In this way, obviously the work is delayed.

Could anybody tell me, of course if is posible, how you solved this ?

Thanks

I didn't understand the question.
Could you expand a bit on your use case?
In particular, you say "we have no choice but to introduce the hours for
each task". But you can just leave the hours blank/unspecified for
tasks that you haven't estimated yet, so I don't follow in what sense
you are forced to do anything. And then, in what sense is "work delayed"?

Cheers,
Geoff

Sorry for my delay in answering your request.

I'm going to explain a little bit this. We made a template with this structure: Requirement and linked tasks. The thing is that we have about 50 tasks and we have to estimate all of them. Nowadays, with this structure (template), we have to estimate one by one all this tasks.

My question is:
There is another way to do that, instead of to estimate one by one all those tasks ?
Also, we would like totalize the result of the estimation in one field (Integer) of the Requirement.
This is posible ?

Thanks for your help

In RTC-3.0.1, in the web browser UI, you can use the "edit multiple work
items" operation ... multi-select all of the work items, and change the
estimate of all of them in one request.

Cheers,
Geoff
