Multiple users working on the same test plan

Jozef Vandenmooter (16332933) | asked Jul 26 '11, 10:45 a.m.
Hi,

Is there any way in which we can have more than one user update the same test plan simultaneously? It appears the one who saves his version first wipes out the changes done by the other.

Thanks,

Jozef

In RQM 3.0.1, update conflicts are handled by an error message when the second user saves the resource. For example:

You have an older state of this item. <user> modified this item less than a minute ago. Close and reopen your editor to pick up the latest changes.

I guess this is also fixed in late release of V2.x

Thanks Paul, Pramod. This is indeed "working as designed".

The QA team considers this a serious limitation though: it's not just test plans, but also Test Cases. Two people can't develop a Test Script for the same Test Case for example.

I submitted an RFE for it but it was closed as a "Duplicate". It doesn't list what the duplicate is though, so I can't vote for it.

In the dW RFE (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=12555), RQM RFE https://jazz.net/jazz02/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/54277 was opened (see http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=12555#rfe_details), which was resolved as a duplicate RQM enhancement https://jazz.net/jazz02/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/26837 (see http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=12555#feedback).
