CLM Migration question

Mohammed Baig (111) | asked Jul 21 '11, 3:19 p.m.
Currently in production we have RQM 2.0.1 , there is a separate initiative going on to deply RTC 3.0.1.

Q1. If we deply RTC 3.0.1 is it must that we install the other two (RM, and QM)?

Q2. If we deploy the entire CLM (CM, QM, RM) , is it possible to migrate the RQM 2.0.1 to CLM QM?

I confess I don't know the answer, but the CLM 2011 Upgrade Workshop includes a module on upgrading RQM -> QM; that may help.

Good luck,
Larry.

Q1: No. As a matter of fact, do not install more applications than you plan to use right away or else during JTS/setup it will discover these other applications by default and attempt to register them and configure them.

Regarding Upgrade planning and deployment, if you plan to use the CLM QM application as the target of a future RQM 201 upgrade, then it is important that you do NOT install the QM 301 application at the time that you install CLM for the purposes of deploying RTC 301.

Only install and deploy one application at a time and keep in mind if the installation is to be the target of an upgrade. The upgrade process requires that you install with specific options if the 301 application you are installing is to be the target of an upgrade vs a new installation.

It is also important that you review the Planning and Deployment section of both the Install and Upgrade sections of the CLMHelp so that you figure out what deployment topology better suits your environment. Once a JTS is configured, it cannot be moved or changed. Thus, you may want to install, setup and configure a shared JTS on its own app server vs colocated with the RTC 301 application.

Note: In order for you to benefit from the full features of CLM 2011, you would want to install RTC 301 in such a way that it can also be automatically linked to your existing RQM environment (be it at the 2.x level or at an upgraded 301 level). If your existing RQM environment is upgraded to a separate and distinct CLM installation with its own JTS (not same JTS as the one for RTC 301), then you will not be able to share users, licenses, reporting, etc which are some of the benefits of the CLM 2011).
