Permissions to "plan" a story

Hi,

I am hoping someone can help with this. What is the best way to control who can plan work item for a specific
iteration? We have a few teams who would only like a specific role to be able to move a story from a release to a
specific iteration.

From the work item process configuration you can set which role you would like to be able to modify the "planned for field" but it is
global across all work items.
There is a work item open to allow setting permissions by work item type

This seems like it would be a common request so I am wondering if I am missing something or if anyone implemented a workaround
