WorkItem In Process automatic append to changeset
Hello together,
I have the follow scenario: If I have more then one work item in the status in process, the last one I set to the status in process is automatic append to the change set I create. First question can I make a configuration to avoid this behavior? Or is there a chance to get a selection of all work items with the status in process first, before on of them is append in an automatic way? Thanks for your answers. Greetings Sandra |

Whenever you "switch" to working on a different work item, just right
click on that work item and select "set current work". That way RTC knows which work item you are currently working on. Enough folks were confused by this that the behavior is changed in 3.0, where no you have an explicit operation for this ("set current work"), rather than it happening automatically when you transition a work item to "in process". Hi Geoff,
is it possible to switch to "no current work" without losing the work item status in progress? greetings Sandra |

That is correct. When you use the "Remove as current work" operation,
it has no effect on the work item status (since it is very common to have several work items that are "In Progress", although only one of them can be "current" at any given time. Note: I vaguely recall that there was not a "Remove as current work" operation in some pre-3.0 versions of RTC, but I may just be imagining that. Hello, all
Please let me reply to this topic since the following is related to this although the long time has passed since the last post. As Geoff says, the RTC 2.0 client doesn't have "Remove as current work" menu but "Stop Working" menu seems to do the same function. (We are using RTC 2.0.0.2 iFix 2) This is very function I wanted and I'm quite grateful for this topic's suggestion, but someone in our team think it is not productive that we have to change the current work to <no> every-time after we save the work item whose status is "In Progress" after the save. So, I'd like to know how to avoid to automatically change the current work and I have two questions after below prerequisite. ==prerequisite== I pay attention to "Group" columns of the "States" table about the configuration of a project area of RTC. (Open a Project Area and open "Process Condition" tab and go to "Project Configuration" -> "Configuration Data" -> "Work Items (advanced)" and scroll down the right hand.) (I'm sorry I'm unable to attach the image...) In this part, when the "Group" is "In Progress", the current work seems to be changed when you change the status of work items. So I have tried to change the "Group" to "None" from "In Progress". The result is good but not perfect. The only work items created after the new configuration won't change the current work. ==Questions== 1. In the eclipse client, is there any configuration (in GUI, .properties files or .ini files etc...) which make the client fully ignore the "Group" column in the "States" table mentioned above? 2. Are there any other effect by changing "Group" column to anywhere of the RTC client other than the current work and "My work" view? Thank you in advance, Toru |
