"specify duplicate" behavior in non-default workfl

Hello,
I'm interested in customizing the workflow used for a story. I've added new states and actions to the story workflow so that users can close a story with a resolution of "duplicate".

When a user closes the story with a "duplicate" resolution, I'd like to have the same behavior as is seen in the default workflow. In the default workflow, the user is not allowed to close a workitem as 'duplicate' until they've specified a duplicate work item link.

I've looked through the customizations available for preconditions in the operations behavior section of the process editor, but don't see anything obvious. Is there a way to add this behavior to a non-default workflow? (any way other than extending and writing an operationAdvisor ;-) )

Thanks,
...Jim

Hi,

this is currently tied to the default workflow, I've opened work item 61225 (https://jazz.net/jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/61225) to track your request.

Christof or anyone else on this board,

It looks like this work item is still outstanding. Any ideas on when it might be fixed? This seems to be a fairly common problem - quite a few users want to customize their process, but would like to have the ability to enforce a duplicate work item precondition check.

Thanks.

I am not sure if this information helps but it appears to me that you may even lose this if you modify the default workflow in some ways. I found that the default workflow would only display this if the workflow's defined resolveActionId is executed and a resolution of id="r2" (used by duplicate resolution) is selected when saved.

Can someone confirm if this is correct?

Is this ever going to be addressed?  I have inherited the duties of manage our RTC server and we have this same issue.  The person before created a custom defect workflow and now we want the "duplicate requirement" behavior.

I opened enhancement https://jazz.net/jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/242467
a little while ago to enable both turning this function off and off as all workitems instead of hard coded as it is now

Well it looks like that was marked as a duplicate of https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=237971

And that is not assigned and in the backlog, so as a 25 year veteran of this industry, my assumption is that this will never get addressed.

yes, working to get someone to undo the dup tag, cause what THEY want and what WE want are different..

thanks for the nudge

Has this been addressed?  I have a custom workflow where I'd like to enforce Duplicate linking.

We are currently on RTC 4.0

https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=237971  is currently in progress. You can view the item to see when this work is expected to be completed.
