Can Snapshot name syntax be changed for a build
Can we define the syntax of a snapshot created for a build?
Currently we have <product<component>R<release>B<date>_<datesubid>, e.g. A25_SPCA_C020300_B20110208_02. In RTC it is <projectname>_<date>_<id> and we do not see how to change this. |

I don't know how to control the name of the snapshot that is created by
the build (which does not mean that there isn't a way to do it :-), but you can rename a snapshot in the snapshot editor in the RTC Eclipse client. If it turns out there isn't a way to define the name of the snapshot in the build, you should certainly submit an enhancement request, asking for this capability. ... Hello. AFAIU, you can't even do that if you follow best practice that is : use a build engine, use a dedicated technical user for the builds. Because tech user will own build workspace, thus refraining any user (non RTC super admin) to rename a snapshot, nor promote it. Any one for a solution ? My goal is to rename in a meaningful manner ( like snap_app_vx.y.z ) a snapshot (otherwise criptic) created by a build. I have had a look at ant-task-through-maven. But there are no ant task to rename snapshot. Do I have to develop ant tasks ? Anyway it it would have me to change pom.xml : i.e. touching the source code to invoke those ant tasks ! It looks to me incredibly complex for such a requirement. Regards. |
Hi,
It sounds like the original post would be interested in the enhancement request linked below. https://jazz.net/jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/113600 Please add comments to the request, if they help further define the support needed. Brent Ulbricht Developer/Lead - RTC Build |
