Unable to search artifact in .rar file using Advanced Search

iRAM Administrator (3152156135) | asked Jan 18 '11, 9:15 a.m.
We have submitted 3 assets named Test Artifact1, Test Arifact2 and Test Artifact3.Each of the asset attached with different artifacts named doc1.7z, doc2.tar and doc3.rar
Able to search artifacts in .7z and .tar files using Advanced Search 'Search with in Artifact' option.
But unable to search artifact in .rar file using Advanced Search 'Search with in Artifact' option.
Able to search the Asset but not able to search the Artifact in .rar file.
Why this search is not working? .rar is not getting indexed?

The primary question to RAM development team is-

Why Artifact Indexes are not build for assets containing ".rar" Files?

Such assets does not get searched while using "Search Into artifact" feature of iRAM.

Our customers are eagerly waiting for an answer, as ".rar" assets from their communities are being created and submitted in iRAM Tool.

".rar" is a proprietary format and not supported by the RAM artifact indexer at this time.

There are multiple versions of the RAR file format. While version 3.0 will definitely not work in RAM, you may find that versions 1.5 and 2.0 work although they are not officially supported. I'm not sure in WinRAR will allow you to create a RAR file using the older formats. If you download version 2.8 or earlier of WinRAR it will use the older RAR file formats.
