RQM Excel / Word Importer on PC without Admin rights

Ryan Grim (61) | asked Nov 03 '10, 10:30 a.m.
Has anyone run into an issue where the RQM Excel/Word Importer was installed on a PC under an administrative context and then a user without admin rights on that PC trys to load the add-in in MS Excel? We are experiencing an issue where after the add-in is installed (with admin rights) our test architects (standard user) cannot load the MSORQM add-in. They receive a mesasge from Excel stating that only an administrator can load and unload add-ins. Must a user have admin or power user rights on their PC in order to use this add-in? Just FYI...their PC's are running WinXP SP3 with Office 2007. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

~Ryan

I just ran into the same issue. Once administrator rights were restored, the RQM add-ins re-appeared in the toolbar at the top of Word and Excel 2003.

Im having the same problem.

I installed the Plug IN Excel to RQM importer by using a administrator account and the other users cant see the plug in.

Does anyone have any answer for this ?

We found a fix...

Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users, right click on "Mso2Rqm" and select "Properties". Click on the "Security" tab and ensure that the user group "Everyone" is added with "Full Control" rights.

After making this change non-administrative users were able to use the tool successfully through Excel 2003 & 2007.
