"You have an older state of this item" error messa

Claudia Callegari (44439771) | asked Jul 15 '10, 2:39 p.m.
Under some circumstance, that I cannot identify, when we try to save a test artifact (test plan, test case, etc.) the user gets the following error:

"You have an older state of this item. ADMIN modified this item about 9 minutes ago. Close and reopen your editor to pick up the latest changes."

Can someone give me which are the circumstances for this to happen? And which are the decisions to be taken?
Thanks

Hi Claudia,

Based on the text of the error, it sounds like the following is happening (times are just an example for illustration purposes):

1:00 p.m. User1 opens Test Case 1 and makes some changes in the editor.
1:01 p.m. ADMIN opens Test Case 1 and makes some changes in the editor.
1:02 p.m. ADMIN clicks Save.
1:11 p.m. User1 clicks Save, and the "you have an older state..." error is thrown, telling this user that someone else (ADMIN) modified Test Case 1 while they already had Test Case 1 open in the editor.
