BIRT version for RTC 3.0M6

Hi,

I am building some BIRT reports for RTC 3.0M6 and I am using the new
BIRT 2.5.2 version that integrates with Eclipse 3.6 (that is the same
version that is supported by the RTC 3.0 M6 Eclipse Client).

Everything works well with list reports, but I have problems with BIRT
reports that include a graph. For these new graph reports designed with
BIRT 2.5.2 RTC can not displayed them and shows a message in Firefox
saying that a new plug-in is needed, but it does not give more details
of which plugin is needed.

I have tested to run reports built with previous 2.3.2 BIRT version for
RTC 3.0 M6 and these work, so it seems there is a problem with the BIRT
version, i.e, RTC 3.0M6 can display BIRT reports designed with version
2.3.2 but it can display graph reports designed with BIRT v 2.5.2.

Has anyone found this behaviour before? Is this a known issue of the RTC
3.0 M6 beta release that will be fixed in GA release?

Thanks,

ana

I have finally solved the issue. The problem was that graph reports
designed with v 2.5.2 have a default SVG format for the graphs that the
viewlets can not display correctly.

If you change that graph property of reports designed with BIRT v2.5.2
to PNG (it is available as a property in the first tab of the graph
properties)then you can include them into the dashboard viewlets and all
graph reports work correctly.

with the plugin that I explained before it was because the SGV plug-in
that is loaded by default in Firefox 3.6 did not work with BIRT reports
developed with v 2.5.2 (but it worked with BIRT reports developed with v
2.3.2).

If I disabled the default SGV plug-in that comes by default with Firefox
and install the SGV v6 Adobe plugin I can see the graphs of reports
developed with BIRT v 2.5.2 also (the way to disable and enable the
right plug-in is detailed in
http://liberitas.com/2007/03/01/svg-en-firefox/ ).

The problem I have now is that although the graph is displayed correctly
when the report is run from the reports Menu, when I add the same report
template to a default viewlet dashboard, the graphs are not displayed
(only list reports are displayed correctly as viewlets although all
reports -graphs and lists- are displayed correctly when they are run
from the Reports menu).

Is there any restriction on the report formats that can be displayed as
viewlets in RTC 3.0M6?

Thanks,

Ana

We've noticed this problem as well, and have a similar workaround. We're
investigating.
