Father - Child relationship

Hello,

I am using RTC 2.0.0.2.
For Planning I use a "story - task" as father - child relationship.
I expect that states of the patent (story) will be changed whenever the "child" (task) status is changing.
Currently it is not like that.
Is it supported?

Thanks,

Yaron

Hi,

no it is not. You could probably create an extension that does it. However I would not suggest that because typically you have several child tasks at a story that are used to track work to be done to implement it.

What is supported is a precondition that prevents a work item from being closed if it has still open child work items.

But if all the child tasks are "Done" why the parent story isn't Done?

There is no automation for that right now. In addition, dependent on what your process defines they might not be either. For instance you might have to run an acceptance test first etc. The workflow could require an approval and so forth.

So, there is no automation for that - however, you could create an extension for it.

Is there any documentation detailing howto set this up?
