As the message states, the error indicates that the Insight reporting server was unable to obtain a license from the license server. This could be for a number of reasons including:

1. The license server isn't installed/running.
2. The license server isn't configured correctly.
3. Your license has expired. (Note that the current Insight 1.0.0.2 trial license posted on Jazz.net will expire in July.)
4. Your reporting server is not configured with the correct location of the license server.

Information about resolving many of these issues can be found in the online documentation.

Hi,

I got issue for file conversion from .mpp (MS Project) to .xml formatin RI. Basically I understand that this .mpp file not supported in RI Data Manager as source to pull into DW, if it is wrong please correct me. Is it possible this conversion available in RI components? Or How do pull data from MS Project file format is .mpp in to Data Manager.
I appreciate your greate help in advance.

I'm finding almost every single way possible that not getting a license can fail.

o The Insight server is bound to 'localhost.localdomain'
o The ibmratl.opt file isn't correct

Both of which I have solved. However, now I get this error:

FLEXnet license error: -88,309
The clock has been set back

Even though I can see the two machines clocks tick off the seconds almost
in lockstep.

Based in the error code reported by FLEXnet, it appears that you may have modified the system clock in an attempt to work around the licensing issue. My suggestion is for you to uninstall and reinstall the Rational License Server 8.0. Back up your working ibmratl.opt file as you can reuse it.

A few things to take note

1. Make sure there is no ANY invalid license in your license file.
2. Before importing Rational Insight Evaluation license, open it and replace dummy hostname with your hostname.
3. Make sure the environment variable LM_LICENSE_FILE is set using HOSTNAME, not IP.
4. RI requires 8.0 Rational License server?

There are 2 configuration files in C:\Program Files\IBM\RationalRLKS\common that may be needed by Rational Insight.
- Rational.opt and ibmratl.opt
- their content should look like the following
- SERVER your_hostname ANY 27000

Hope it helps.

Well, the clock had drifted wildly earlier this month (into July), when I finally
got time to try setting up Insight I had forgotten about the clock going back
but there were files scattered about with dates as far out as July 7. I did this to fix:

touch -t "tomorrow midnight" /tmp/marker
find / -newer /tmp/marker |xargs touch

Note: tomorrow midnight is not what touch command wants, just an abstraction. So, now I get licensed for insight_server.

On to the next barriers....
