I'm aware of this documentation https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/RQMExcelWordImporter
but I would need aditional instructions on writing a cfg file. Where can I find sample cfg files?

I found them. They're located in the installation directory.
For the Excel importer, the default location is
C:\Program Files\IBM\RQMExcelImporter\Samples
