Make Approval Required

Jacob Thompson (8662) | asked Feb 07 '08, 9:14 a.m.
I have not been able to find an example of this and I am not too sure if it is doable.

I want new Stories and/or Plan Items to require approval. I want this to be done by a specific role and/or user. So when an item is created, the approval will automatically be added.

Is this possible?

Hi,

automatically adding approvals when creating a work item is currently not supported, nor can approvals be restricted to certain roles. Please open an enhancement request.

Regards,

Christof

Would it be possible to specify the approval as a required follow up action after the workItem has been created?

That might work, you could also try using a 'precondition' like we do with the ImpliedPropertiesAdvisor (in the workitem.service plugin) which has the advantage that you would create the approval with the same save operation. (Note that using a 'precondition' this way is not officially supported.)

Using a follow-up action specified in your process is the right way to go.
