User changed PCs and RTC sees files on old PC

Hi,

A user here had to get a new PC. She installed RTC on it and set a folder "C:\rtc2.0\workspaces" to be the default location for her work spaces. She then created a new workspace for project XYZ. (There was a project for XYZ on her original PC). When she loaded it up, she says that there were some files in the Pending Changes view for one of the components that she was loading for the project on the new PC. These files had not been checked in on the original workspace (on the original PC), before she got her new PC. The files in questions do show differences between the files in the workspace on the new PC and the same files in the repository.

How did the new workspace know about Pending Changes in the old workspace? Maybe this is normal. Could it be that RTC sees the other workspace because the old PC is running?

Using the Project Explorer, it appears that the file path for the Sandboxes on the new PC is correct.

Can she check in the files that show up as Pending Changes in the new workspace? I am thinking that perhaps she should unload the new project workpsace on the new PC, shut the old PC down and then reload the new project workspace on her new PC. I wanted to run it by the forum first before I recommend that course of action.

If the Sandbox path is wrong in the Project Explorer, how do we change it?

Thanks,

-Walter

A couple things aren't completely clear from your description.

The changes that are showing up in the Pending Changes view, are they in
the "Unresolved" folder (meaning they are not checked in) or in the
"Outgoing" folder (meaning they are checked in)? Is it the same on both
the old PC and the new PC?

Did she create a new repository workspaces with RTC? Or did she create
a new Eclipse workspace on the new PC but load her existing repository
workspace into the new Eclipse workspace? On both the old PC and the
new PC, which repository workspace under "My Repository Workspaces" has
"(loaded)" next to it?

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply. What we did to remedy this situation is to "resolve" all Outgoing activities on the user's original PC. I thought that she had done that and she had not. Once that was done and the code was delivered, she was able to remove the workspaces on the old PC and then create new ones on her new PC. It actually made sense to do it that way - reconcile the old workspaces on the old PC, remove the workspaces on the old PC, and then create new workspaces on the new PC.
