Jabber integration

Hello!

My team's been having trouble using our existing Jabber server with TeamConcert. We're ostensibly able to connect fine, but it seems almost non-deterministic as to whether our team members show up as connected (green dot) or not. And if we then try to send messages to other green dots, they never get them -- though no error messages pop up. This is bi-directional -- Person A and Person B can keep sending each other messages with no errors, but neither receive messages from the other.

Further, a coworker using an external Jabber client (Pandion) was able to send me messages and those appeared in TeamConcert fine.

Wondering if anyone had to do anything special to integrate TeamConcert with Jabber, or if the Jabber client simply isn't finished yet (before we put our Jabber admin to too much further trouble).

Thanks!
Jim

Hi,

which kind of Jabber Server (Openfire, ...) and version you are using. Which version of RTC/Jazz are you using?

We are running on Beta2 and Openfire 3.4.4 and the essential features are running well.

Hi,

It might be the case your existing Jabber server has some security
restrictions which cause problems here. Could you tell which settings
have been customized from their defaults?

Cheers,
Tobias

We're using OpenFire 3.4.4 and TCBeta2. The security settings changed from the defaults are: we're forcing SSL and we've also set it up to authenticate against ActiveDirectory.

Thanks!

Well, we have exactly the same problem steinberger

Using TeamConcert 1.0 M5 and OpenFire 3.4.5.

PC1 / Windows XP Pro :
* hosting OpenFire 3.4.5 (default installation)
* TeamConcert 1.0 M5
* hosting Jazz server on a virtual machine( RedHat4 )

PC2 / Windows XP Pro :
* TeamConcert 1.0 M5

We have trouble to see each other, and when we can see each other, messages sent by one are not received by the other.
File transfer, using jabber protocol, works perfectly. When we change status, sometimes the other sees the new one, sometimes not, but in openfire administration website, status is correct and immediately change.

It's really random ! Is it a "cache" problem ?

Can anyone give us some advice ?

We've experienced similar problems as well using a default install of OpenFire 3.4.5 running on a Linux box.

We played with it for a few days before giving up.

Hi all,

I've created bug
https://jazz.net/jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/46849
to further track the issue.

Could you please subscribe to this bug and attach any findings (Jabber
server settings, steps to reproduce) to this bug?

Thanks,
Tobias
