Utilize "custom attributes" defined in Global Configuration (GC).

Hi,

Using version 7.0.3.
Requirements Management (RM)
Quality Management (QM)
Global Control Management (GC)

In RM and ETM, I would like to use the custom-defined attributes from GC. I have created my attributes in GC, but unfortunately, they are not appearing in RM. I have created a global stream and included RM and ETM. In RM, I have selected the GC stream. What am I missing?

"Configuration Management" is enabled.

The type system (attributes/categories/enums, etc) are tool and project area specific (even down to configuration, depending on which tool).
Anything you define in a GCM Project Area is not visible in ERM or ETM project areas - there's no 'inheritance'.

Hi, What are the uses of type definitions as data types and attributes in the GCM? Why can we create a stream with components that include custom attributes, yet not utilize them outside the GCM? We need to preserve type consistency between the RM and ETM. How can we manage this feature?

Ole, you'll need to set up a change control board for your type system in GCM, ERM, ETM. You can make that as formal as you need but you will need to have a slightly different approach in all 3 tools because template management and type system change deployment is different in each.

Hi,

Do we need to define the same attribute types in all modules (GCM, ERM, ETM) ? Can we not reuse the type definition from GCM in other modules? If so, DNG has significant potential for improvement!
