You can upload non-text information in DNG and it will be 'wrapped' in an Artefact, that can have custom attributes, links, and be used like any other Artefact.

If the file is a recognised MIME type it may be displayed by your browser, and certain artefact types like Excel and Word documents will be rendered directly by DNG. You can download the file for viewing or editing and can then upload a new version.

I recommend creating your own custom Artefact Type, such as External File, specifically for uploading files. I also create a custom Artefact Type called Image, which I use specifically for uploading an image file.
