How to stop an import from Clearcase
![](http://jazz.net/_images/myphoto/f472a14bef28e27cbd15fc7f993afa14.jpg)
I'm in the process of importing our source code from Clearcase to RTC using the Clearcase connector. I started an import this morning and wish to stop it because it is importing into a stream other than the one I want. There is no option that I can find to stop the import process.
I killed the synchronization engine for that process, but that doesn't appear to have made any difference. The status of the import continues to update as it did when the sync engine was running.
I don't want to delete the synchronization stream because I want to keep the data I've imported thus far.
How do I stop the synchronization process and start it over again with different parameters?

The synchronization engine fires off a separate process to do the sync,
so you'd have to use a native OS command to kill that spawned process to
terminate the sync prematurely.
You'll then have to unlock the ClearCase stream manually (use the
ClearCase pane of the properties page for that sync stream), and then
use that same property page to change the ClearCase stream for that sync
stream.

What's the name of this process please? I've killed everything running under "cccqsync", killed java.exe, restarted RTC client, still the status shows as "Import Active".
I have to delete the stream to restart from the beginning.

The status of the sync process is the last status that it reported to
the server. So that status will not change until you have requested
another sync on that sync stream.
Note: If the sync stream is showing as "locked" when you try to perform
a sync, you need to unlock the sync stream (use either the sync stream
editor or the sync stream properties page), and then retry the sync.

I have the same issue. The sync from CC to RTC fails due to "memory error" , I unlock the stream , but the status stil shows as "Import Active", the build engine is not processing any builds.
I have created a seperate new Stream for importing now.So basically what has happened is that the CC sync failed after importing folders, so I created new stream and workspaces and imported the remaining data. How do I merge or combine these folders under one workspace so that all teh C data is in one place?

On the "memory error" problem, that should be fixed in 4.0 (the scalability tests now include 200,000 file imports, with no memory issues).
On the status showing "import active" ... that is left over from the previous sync process crashing. After unlocking the sync stream, you could just have requested another sync, and that status field would have been updated (you can still do so, to verify this).
I'm not sure what you mean about "getting all the data in one place". You now have two sync streams, and you only need one. Just delete one of the two sync streams (in your case, you might as well delete the first one, since it only made it part way, while it sounds like the second sync stream completed and is in good shape).

Geoff
Note: It would have been best to start a new topic for this, since your post is not really about "How to stop an import from ClearCase".

I am able to unlock the stream , but the "select files to sync" option is greyed out.
So when the first time the sysc failed I had to delete the sync stream. In this workspace I have data imported from ClearCase.I created another stream for importing from CC, but had to use a different workspace(RTC did not let me use the old one). So now I want to bring over the data from the first workspace to this new one so that all the CC info is in one workspace.
Thanks
