migration of rtc codebase with history to git repo, not able to create history**.txt file as mentioned in beow detailed description
HI Team,
Specifically our requirement is to migrate the RTC code-base along with history to git repo.
To accomplish this task we took the https://github.com/rtcTo/rtc2git as reference.
it says if we need to migrate with history we need to include history**.txt file at history folder and creation of history.txt file is done following this process 'https://github.com/rtcTo/rtc2git/wiki/Getting-your-History-Files"
where My RTC client version is "RTC-Client-Win64-6.0.6" and via this rtc client version i am unable to PERFORM STEP 4 TO 7 FROM "
How I get the complete component history?" in https://github.innominds.com/rtcTo/rtc2git/wiki/Getting-your-History-Files url
so any help or suggestions is appreciated

This isn't an IBM or Jazz supported tool so I think you'll need to ask this question over on their page instead

Hi Norris
So do we have any mechanism there for us to migrate RTC code with history to Git Repo?

Product development teams normally invest time working out how to help people adopt their tools, and so the IBM Jazz developers have worked on how to get stuff successfully *into* EWM and not the other way round.
If you were moving into another commercial product, then they would be the ones who develop the migration approach into their tool.
As Git is Open Source, you either have to build it yourself or go out looking for somebody else who has built it themselves and has decided to share it. I believe that's what you have done. But you would need to ask them how their tool works - the people here are more likely to be able to answer questions on how to integrate or migrate into EWM.
If you already had Git repos I could tell you how to hook them up in EWM and get them working with work items and process enforcement, but I know that's not much help to you right now, sorry.

FORUM ADMINISTRATOR / FORUM MODERATOR / JAZZ DEVELOPER edited Apr 05 '22, 4:24 a.m. I would agree that it would make more sense to communicate with the owners of that tool.
READ their https://github.com/rtcTo/rtc2git#readme to the end where they suggest to to open an issue here: https://github.com/rtcTo/rtc2git/issues and they also mention a slack channel.

So then our query is how to register the current RTC workspace stream as git , because at RTC we see -->"work with git" option and there we can register a git repository

so in this way it helps us to have the code base in RTC and it has the git functionality

that means...moving an existing workspace stream to register to git.
The GIT integration assumes you are using GIT already and want work items to be linked to the changes in Git. |
