Categories vs Custom attributes in RQM

i see categories and custom attributes options in RQM.
Can you please provide me some hints when should i choose?

FORUM ADMINISTRATOR / FORUM MODERATOR / JAZZ DEVELOPER A category is a property whose value is an enumerated type.
A custom attribute is a property whose value is not an enumerated type.
