How to get Old state of a work item and current state of a work item using client side utility.

Hii,

I need to know how to get OldState of a work item and current state of the work item using client side utily. I am able to get current state by using workingCopy.getState(newState.getState2()). I need to know how to get OldState of the work item using client side utility. Kindly help me in this.
