Missing profile dashboard

Mark Ingebretson (58515236) | asked Oct 26 '09, 9:12 a.m.
We have a user who is not listed under All Dashboards as having his own
profile dashboard. If he goes to Dashboards in the web client, the
Create Dashboard option is grayed out.

He is in the right JazzUsers group, and has a Floating Developer license
assigned. He has the Team Member role in the project.

The server is RTC 2.0.

How can we get a dashboard created for him?

Thanks!

Hi Mark,

If the button is disabled, it means he doesn't have permission to create a personal dashboard. Please check in the project editor, under project configuration permissions (not team config permissions), that the role assigned to him has the following action allowed:

Dashboard > Save Personal Dashboard

Also, check that he is creating the dashboard in the same project in which you've set the permission - the permission applies only to the given project.

Thanks,
Curt

The user has the Team Member role at the project level, like almost
every other project member. They all have their own dashboard profile,
but this user does not.

I did check to ensure that the Team Member role has this permission
checked at the project level.

I asked him to verify that he tried to create a new dashboard on the
project dashboard page, and here's what he said:

Interesting. When I went to the XXXX project dashboard this time the
"Create Dashboard" button was enabled and allowed me to create a
generically-named "Contributor Dashboard". I renamed it to "His Name's
Dashboard". Interestingly it does not show up in a query of available
dashboards.

I checked his license, and he has a Floating Developers license assigned.

The user still can't create a dashboard, any other ideas?

I forgot to mention - in RTC 2.0 we did some redesign in the area of profile dashboards. The concept of a first class singleton profile dashboard no longer exists - instead, we opted to promote the use of real profiles, which were formerly only available to admins in the Admin Web UI (which was why we provided the stopgap profile dashboard measure).

A more general approach to sharing dashboards was added in place of profile dashboards - there's a new button in the dashboard toolbar to share your personal dashboard with others (that is, make it viewable). By default, personal dashboards created using the Create Dashboard button are private. By sharing a dashboard, you are allowing others to view it and it will be listed in All Dashboards.

In order to not lose the profile dashboards from the previous version, each profile dashboard was converted as-is into a shared dashboard. So if you'd still like to have profile dashboards, you can still do so by creating a dashboard, changing the title to "__'s Profile Dashboard" and sharing it with everyone.

Hope this helps,
Curt

Curt,

Thanks for your note. For some reason last week the user was able to
create a dashboard, so he's up and running now.

I did try your suggestion above, and I created a dashboard for him and
renamed it to his name. I shared it, and he could then see it, but not
change it.

Mark
