RQM-Execution console page -No option to save the overall test case status through created custom category.

Preetha T (27333) | asked Jan 29 '19, 2:13 a.m.

 Dear Team,

Our requirement is to give the overall test case status to pass /fail in execution console page instead of executing it each and every manual steps.

While run a collection of test cases using test suite execution record in parallel mode there is no direct option to set the overall test case status to pass/Fail in execution console page instead of executing every manual step. we created custom test result category for status.status category is visible in execution console page but after giving the status show result option is not enabled.

Can you please assist us on the same.

Hi Preetha,
If I understand you correctly, you wanted to see the test result's category in the Execution Console page, so that you can set a Pass/Fail value for the step instead of executing the step. Unfortunately, the Execution Console page only show a fix number of columns related to the scheduled test to run and doesn't show any custom values for the related artifacts.

Perhaps in this situation, you can run the test suite, and select the option to 'Create a result without executing'. A result will be created for each of the steps and you can set the custom result in the step result.

Thanks for your support Lam and subhajit.

As you said we already tried that. But we want test case result to be updated in execution console page. In Execution console page, custom category was created as Test status. But after enabled the test status, show result option is not enabled and there is no option to save the test result without executing all manual steps.

The user is not satisfied to do the option create a result without executing it. They want to execute the test case but it shall be a option to mark all the manual steps as pass or Fail.

You can use "Apply All" in manual execution page to mark all steps as passed, failed, error etc in 1 user action. If you want to mark all test cases in a test suite as either passed or failed or error etc, you can use 'Create a result without executing' as mentioned by Lam
