Can different teams of a project can follow diff process
Hi All,
There is a need in my project that one of team must follow a different process totally. The project will be following scrum process and one of the team has to follow a customized process (eg say eclipse way). Is that possible to follow two completely different process in a same project for different teams? Thanks, Sany |

The process is associated with the project area, so teams cannot follow a completely different process. The project area defines default roles, permissions and operation behavior as well as general information such as what work item types, dashboards and plans are available.
Teams within a project area can set up their own roles, permissions and operation behavior. This may be enough for your team, in which case they do not need an entirely different process. It is worth asking why one team needs a different process. Are they following the same timeline as the rest of the project? Can the difference in their practices be covered by customizing the process in their team area, rather than using an entirely different process? Martha Jazz Developer Hi All, |
Dear Martha,
I am trying to implement Risk Management into Jazz. The Risk Management is overall a different process to be followed, in the sense it needs different work items and different work flows but the timeline will the same as of the project. The actual need is to customize the team areas with new work items and workflows. Is that possible in Jazz RTC? Thanks, Sany |

So if the biggest difference in the Risk Management team's process is different kinds of work items, it is quite possible to create that process in RTC and let the Risk Management team use it. What I don't think is possible is to configure RTC so that the Risk Management team's new work item types can be assigned only to the Risk Management team, while the other work item types cannot be assigned to the Risk Management team. In other words, I don't know of a way to enforce that certain types of work items can be associated only with certain teams. That is done through convention; it's not automatically enforced. If the people triaging newly created work items are aware of the conventions of what types are appropriate for which teams, I don't think it will be too much of a burden. |

This is not currently possible in RTC.
I agree that this would be desirable, and work Item 90830 was submitted to get this enhancement, but was marked "no plan to fix" by the dev team. Please feel free to add a comment to that work item if you'd like the dev team to reconsider. Cheers, Geoff trsanthosh wrote: Dear Martha, |
