How to add a new subscriber to all work items already created in RTC?

Hi Someone who may concern,
         We are working on RTC 6.0.3.
         Currently we have a requirement to add a specific person as subscriber to all work items already created.
         I just tried, we can not add in bulk way by using query, "subscribed by" is not a attribute we can bulk change.
         
         One way I figure out is to write script to use RESTAPI to query all work items one by one back and update fields of the subscriber for every work item.

          I am wondering whether any other alternative way ?
