Ask a question

Is it possible to upgrade only certain application from the CLM suite ?

Pavol Bogda (113) | asked Sep 26 '17, 4:53 a.m.

Hello together,

We are working with CLM 6.0.3, currently there are following applications installed on multiple servers: Jazz Team Server, RTC, RQM, Doors Next Gen,  Global Configuration, Reporting Server, LDX,   Data collection component and LQE.

Our management would like to test the new features of the version 6.0.4, however they are only interested in the RTC .

Would it be possible to upgrade just RTC and JTS to the version 6.0.4 and let the other applications in the version 6.0.3 ?

Could it cause any problems ?

Thank you very much in advance

To test, you upgrade a test environment and NOT a production environment.

In general you have to upgrade JTS first but you can then upgrade the applications on different servers in a step by step approach (unless indicated otherwise in the documentation).

So you could upgrade JTS to 6.0.4 and then CCM to 6.0.4 and leave the other applications on 6.0.3 for now. Note: I did not check if there is anything that would prevent you from using this approach for the specific version 6.0.4.

Thank you very much for your answer, Ralph. I was talking about a test environment of course ... But we are planning to use the same topology for production environment next year as well. Therefore, the main question is, if the whole CLM suite will work fine, if JTS and RTC will be in the version 6.0.4 and the rest in the version 6.0.3 ... Is this kind of mixed environment a good idea at all ? Or should we avoid it ?

Pavol,

the above scenario (JTS on 6.0.4 and RTC on 6.0.4 and others still on 6.0.3) is a real scenario during upgrade times and maybe even longer. The target is to support them (N+1). So, unless otherwise noted in the upgrade instructions, thyt should be possible, especially in a test environment.
