Recommended JTS 6.0.4 Deployment Topology with Only Two Physical Servers Available

I am preparing to deploy a JTS 6.0.4 instance and I have access to two physical servers running Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. Each has 64GB of memory and plenty of storage. My question is, what is the optimal topology for maximum performance?

Here are my ideas, please criticize/correct/embellish/etc.:
Option 1: Server A has all the applications running on it; Server B has all the databases running on it.
Option 2: Server A has half of the applications and their databases running on it; Server B has the other half of the applications and their databases running on it.

Without any outside input, I would lean toward option 2 because it would avail more memory to the JTS applications, since a maximum of 24GB is assignable on a single machine. Option two avails the unified JTS instance with a total of 48GB of memory (spread over two machines) versus the single-machine memory limit of 24GB otherwise.

Thanks in advance!

If you plan to install DCC and/or LQE then it is recommended that each of those applications should be deployed onto dedicated systems to avoid resource conflicts and performance issues with the other applications.

See https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/LifecycleQueryEngineBestPractices for a discussion of LQE requirements.

The general sizing strategy for the product can be located here: https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/CLMSizingStrategy60
