RQM and RTC integration

Karen Steele (1.2k1134139) | asked Sep 21 '09, 2:17 p.m.
I've managed to get RQM and RTC enabled as "friends", both servers confirm the friends option by running the https://servername:9443/jazz/friends ... I've also added to both the project in RTC and the project in RQM a link - which also worked correctly. I've linked just one RTC project to one Quality Manager project

I've also done the necessary configurations to setup the Build Provider using the documentation from the help files.

I've checked and double checked that one server can see the other by logging in on both servers to the other - no issues there.

However, when I attempt to configure the build provider I get a "failed to connect to server" ... I'm obviously missing something or is this a know problem with an alternate fix ..

Restart of the servers so far hasn't helped

Hi Karen,
When setting up the Build Provider in System Properties, double check the URL that you are using for the RTC server. Make sure it is in the format:
https://MyRTC:9443/jazz, where you substitute your RTC host and port.
Also, very important, whatever you use for "MyRTC" must match what you entered in step 1g of the instructions here: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rqmhelp/v2r0/topic/com.ibm.rational.test.qm.doc/topics/t_config_rtc_build_integration.html

If you're having DNS issues you may want to try using IP addresses, at least as a troubleshooting technique.

Hope that helps.
Regards,
John

Hi John

I've checked and doubled checked, and the values I have in the hostname property is the exact same as the one i've used in the build configuration ... I can see the tool looking up my server but after about 1 minute it bombs with "failed to connect to server" ... I have cross server comms setup for every convolution that a user might access it by - my hosts files have all the same parameters - hostname in rtc is pbprewin1.bcs.can.ibm.com .. and that's what I use the in URL for the build integration ....

any ideas ? any logs I can look at to see if it shows where its dying.

So - one update on this front:
We have discovered a build integration incompatibility between RTC 2.0.0.2 and RQM 2.0+. Are either of you using RTC 2.0.0.2?
This is being fixed in RTC 2.0.0.2 iFix01.
Refer to additional background here:
