Rational Team Concert 5 cannot be started with error " Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class"

Jie Guo (11) | asked Jun 28 '17, 8:31 a.m.

 Hi all,

I got an error when I start the rational team concert 5. I got the error "An error has occurred. See the log file ...metadata.log".

How shall I do without reset all the settings from my RTC?

Regards,

It would appear that you ran out of memory:
  java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

Try editing your eclipse.ini to increase the GC/memory management settings (-Xms, -Xmx, etc.)

More info on the settings can be found starting here:

The RTC Eclipse client ran out of JVM heap size when loading the feed. I wonder whether you will get the same issue on a different machine. If so, there may be something wrong in the feed, rather than the RTC Eclipse client settings.
