Permission to edit field when Creating but not Modifying

Michael Walker (99215201157) | asked Sep 14 '09, 5:55 p.m.
Is it possible to give users access to change a field during creation of the Work Item, but not when modifying an existing Work Item.

I'm trying to give users access to write to the Description field when opening a Defect so they can add the problem description there. But I don't want it to be modifiable after creation.

The permissions seem to classify setting the field at creation as a Modification and thus I can't differentiate between the two.

Thanks,

Hello,
this can be achieved by modifying the permissions at the Project Area
level, or at the Team Area level.
Screen shot attached.

Thanks.
Eric.

Hi
No, this is not possible. In both cases (creation and later on), the modify permission is necessary. This would require some form of 'state-based permissions' which we currently don't support.

Feel free to file an enhancement request on jazz.net against the Work Items component.
