Question on work item category/reporting statistics

Hi
In v1.0 I have a work item category I will call xyz. I have this
category associated with two different lines of development, PT1 and
PT2. I don't need this work item category anymore, but would still
like to see the data statistics for PT1/xyz. If I remove the work
item category xyz, will I still be able to view these statistics?

Since work item categories can only be archived, not deleted, existing work item queries and the work item statistics viewlet should continue to work.
