NDF SQL Server database files? What are they used for?
We are running CLM version 6.0.3 with iFix02.
Additional Applications include Rational Asset Manager.
We have several files in our database that are not the standard MDF or LDF files associated with SQL Server. Can someone tell me which application is using them, and more importantly, are they neccessary?
Files are...
VNF_IDX.ndf
VSTR_32K.ndf
VSTR_32K2.ndf
VSTR_IDX.ndf
One answer
NDF is the extension for SQL Server secondary data files.

By the look of it, the files that you mentioned appear to be used Insight. And of course they're necessary.

Thanks for the response Donald. A few follow up questions. It seems both of the CCM databases are pointing to NDF files. It also seems as if my DW database is pointing to these NDF files as well.
However, I cannot point different databases to the same NDF files as it would cause data corruption. I needed to drop my DW database for maintenance purposes, but now when I try to reattach the DW database it throws an error that one or more of the files do not match the primary file of the database.
What are the consequences of deleting the DW database, an creating from scratch? Would I lose all of my JRS reports?
