Why does Rational Publishing Engine only support the DB2 Enterprise Server Edition and not Workgroup or Express?

Robert Huet (23113984) | asked Feb 09 '17, 3:09 p.m.

My understanding is that DB2 Workgroup Server Edition does not require any additional licensing when used with CLM or RPE.  However, the RPE System Requirements for RPE 2.1 show that only the DB2 Enterprise Server Edition is supported, and this product requires additional licensing.

Can someone please explain?  I've run RPE remote services with DB2 Express in my sandbox, and it runs great.

Thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert,

Yes, you are correct. DB2 Workgroup Server Edition does not require any additional lic when used with CLM or RPE. CLM had this support for a while and RPE added support in RPE 2.1.1. Therefore, when you look at the RPE 2.1, DB2 Workgroup Server Edition is not listed.

Hence, you just need to make sure to upgrade to RPE 2.1.1 and you are all set.
