CCLT to RTC migration

Hi

ClearCase LT is a great animal, a younger brother of main beast called CC. OK, we can all love animals and beasts, but as home pats.
Lets talk about migration.

As a user of CCLT Im able to get Storage place and registry Windows based backups. I am not able to work around CCLT server in any way. It is in system room. This is important, because I cant make all this moves on server where LT is installed.

OK. I have asked for support from IBM and received full CC software.

After installation of CC, lots of cleartool moves as make PVOB, fill new PVOB with backup, underlay registry, fix_prot, mkregion, mount, using cclt2cc.exe app, register, unlock !?#$%, VOB can be seen in VOB Administration tool and all projects and streams are in Project explorer.

Also, we can connect RBD or RAD to CC and import projects into workspace. Jazz Server is started on other PC and works fine (this is JAZZ test environment 3 PC lan). Everything is fine here.

Sadly, but documentation for this migration is very poor for every day users/light admins. It is VERY strange and unprofessional behavior from IBM, not to make RTC ClearCase Connector support for CCLT users or some kind of better support in paper, video or any form.

At the end of all, we are stuck. Problem is in Select files To Import GUI window (Importing files and history with history from Integration help on

    To select files and folders manually, enter a path name that is visible in the Rational ClearCase stream you specified in the Import wizard and then click Add.. error > Folder xyz does not exist. We cannot find any good path (<VOB>\<folder>\.....). Where to find VOB-selector???

    To select files and folders by browsing mounted VOBs, click Browse to display a list of VOBs mounted by the synchronization host.. error -> picture bellow.

The problems you have encountered are because full ClearCase is not
properly configured on your ClearCase Connector host machine (as
indicated by the screen shots you have included).

So please contact ClearCase support to help you get full ClearCase
running, before trying to use the ClearCase Connector.
To verify that you have full ClearCase running properly, you should be
able to mount vobs, create dynamic views, checkout and checkin to create
new versions in those dynamic views, and be able to deliver and baseline
those changes to an integration stream.

Background Note: the ClearCase Connector requires the use of dynamic
views, so CCLT customers have to use full ClearCase to use the CC
Connector. A CCLT customer migrating to RTC will be able to get a free
full ClearCase license from their Rational sales rep in order to use the
ClearCase Connector to help with that migration.

I will try to work on checkout and checkin with dyn. views. I did not try that yet.
Also, I have already tried to mount vobs and everything pass OK.
I think that this will be a very long half time in this game.

Please make sure as part of your ClearCase set testing to create a new
dynamic view on the ClearCase Connector machine, and verify that
checkout, checkin, deliver, and make-baseline work in that new dynamic
view.

Hi Geoff

We have resolved the problem.

ClearCase installation was correct, but only problem was with creating dynamic views to network drives (repeated permissions fix on that vob , mounting vob again and some little repairs with cleartool ...).

Now, the things to play with are RTC and some of its characteristics linked to connector functionalities.
