Iteration Planning
As part of our Jazz evaluation, we've recently started planning the next release of the J9 VM and we're run into a few difficulties.
Our product is divided into multiple components, each with its own team area and category to match. We then have iterations matching a release (ie Java6 SRx) which contains multiple milestones. As part of the warm-up to the next release we plan the features and fixes that will go into it (Java6 SRx). What we would like to do is have a SRx plan for all teams (and all milestones) so we can see everything for that release in one place. We can't do that with the way iteration plans work right now. Before M4 we could at least create a plan for SRx and choose all categories. Work Items would be planned for SRx initially and after the plan was "complete" we'd move each task to its "planned for" milestone. Now that we've moved to M4 that's not possible. The way we see it, the plan for for overall iteration should show all work items for categories that are children of the team area's category. Also, we would like this overall plan to show work items scheduled for milestones below it. This way even after we move an item to Milestone 1 we can still see it in SRx (since SRx is a parent iteration of Milestone 1). Is there a way to do what we want? |
