IE6 and RTC2

Eike Meyer (612211) | asked Jul 16 '09, 4:26 a.m.
Hi,
I have a problem with RTC 2.0 and the internet explorer 6.0:
We are working in an environment where IE 6.0 is the standard browser version that is to be used. However it isn't among the supported browsers for RTC2. When I try to connect to our RTC server I am stuck in the loading screen.

When I connect to the jazz.net server, the web access works fine however. Is there a way to get this working for our own server too?

2 issues
- the loading means there was an ssue on the server and possibly the user
is not known by the server: Check the server log
- IE6 is not supported :( I do nto believe this is the issue here, but if
an issue occurs, there will be no support for IE6, sorry :(

Jorge just pinged me with the same issue
He is reinstalling as one of the upgrade is working and the other is not
can you confirm you have the same symptoms ?

WAS 6.1.0.23 + JDK sr9 + iFixes
FF works fine
IE6 or 7 does not work (we do not even get to the login challenge)

I get stuck in the loading screen prior to the login screen, so the user can't be an issue. Even though it isn't officially supported, this error doesn't occur with the jazz.net server so a solution to it probably already exists.

AFAIK, it is more than not supported. IE 6.0 doesn't work with RTC
because issues like the one you are facing. I couldn't login with IE 6.0
to RTC or RQM, but you can with IE 7.0 and FF 3.0

I have to say it is time to move to IE7/8 (or dare I say Firefox) for you guys. There is really no legitimate excuse for staying on IE6 as a corporate standard. There are now more risks to staying on IE6 than there are for upgrading.

IE 6 has been causing problems since RTC 1.0 and I have definitely seen a login problem before. Upgrade to 7 if you can, or FF. Google Chrome (while not officially supported) works very well on RTC 1.x - I have personally not used it much on 2.0 yet.

Another tip - clear your browser cache when moving to a new version of RTC (even from a 2.0 pre-release version to 2.0). We saw some very strange WebUI behaviour, like the skin not appearing and pulldowns not working before we cleared the browser cache.
