@rsnelson, any updates on this? When will support for VS2015 be available for RTC 5.0.2?

Stephane Couillaud commented Nov 10 '15, 3:08 p.m. | edited Nov 20 '15, 3:30 p.m.

We also have a need to use Visual Studio 2015 with RTC 5.0.2. Is there an update on that front?  From the RTC dashboards I see possible support for 6.0.1 but nothing for 5.0.2 at this time.

Thanks

So I just dug deeper into this and just found that iFix010 for RTC 5.0.2 does support Visual Studio 2015.  In the zip file for iFix010, there is a read me file called readme-vsclient.tx.  If you read it, it says the following:

Rational Team Concert Visual Studio Client interim fix as part of CLM_502_iFix010.zip

This interim fix is only valid for the Visual Studio Client 5.0.2.0 release. After this interim fix, upgrade to CLM 6.0 or later.

Note:

This patch cannot be installed directly on Microsoft Visual studio 2015. You need to install the Visual Studio hot fix for 2015 support from:

https://rcs-testfix2.ratl.swg.usma.ibm.com/cgi-bin/fix_portal.pl?do_view=RTC-3XyKWTBq2vDJ  before applying this patch.

The “hot fix for 2015” includes all the fixes that are provided until 5.0.2 iFix 09. For Visual Studio 2015, it is sufficient to apply from 5.0.2 iFix 10 onwards on top of the “hot fix for 2015”.

An issue I see is that the link for the hotfix provided above does not work.  Can anyone from IBM help?

This is to confirm that there is a hotfix but it is not released to the general public unless requested directly to IBM.  Problem solved.

I was very happy to see the support for VS2015 with RTC 5.0.2 in the ifix10 release but sadly this link to the hot fix (https://rcs-testfix2.ratl.swg.usma.ibm.com/cgi-bin/fix_portal.pl?do_view=RTC-3XyKWTBq2vDJ) doesn't work for me. It doesn't seem to resolve to anything

I have a team of people moving to VS2015 currently having to work without the integration to our 5.0.2 environment.
Any thoughts?

Cheers

As per my last comment you need to contact IBM technical support to get access to the hotfix as it is not released to the general public.  A PMR with your request should do the trick.

Thanks,

-Steph

How about current users at RTC 5.0 verison if they plan to use Visual Studio 2015, is there any fix/updated plugin will be delivered?

@Teja,  we intend to support Visual Studio 2015 within 90 days of the GA release from Microsoft.  Microsoft released in late July.  The initial install and testing work is being done in the current RTC v6.0.1 active development stream in work item 357759.  Once that work is validated, we then intend to back port the changes in a future fixpack on the RTC v5.0.2 stream.  This will allow a v5.0.2 + IFix #TBD to run VS 2015.  Of course if you want the latest RTC SCM features like nested components support in Visual Studio or the latest cool RTC Quick Planner features, such as cross project views of "your work" on all RTC projects and many other improvements, you will want to plan for updating  to RTC v6.0.1 targeted for Q4 2015.

@rsnelson, i don't suppose you would have an update on the support of VS 2015 with RTC 5.0.2?  Thanks

Here is some additional information on where to get support for Visual Studio 2015 on both 5.0.2 and 6.0.

VS 2015 support for RTC 5.0.2 and 6.0 have been posted on Fix central. Below are the links:

6.0:          http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/quickorder?parent=ibm%7ERational&product=ibm/Rational/Rational+Team+Concert&release=6.0.0&platform=All&function=fixId&fixids=6.0.0-Rational-RTC-ifix010_VS2015&includeSupersedes=0&source=fc

5.0.2:         http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/quickorder?parent=ibm%7ERational&product=ibm/Rational/Rational+Team+Concert&release=5.0.2&platform=All&function=fixId&fixids=5.0.2-Rational-RTC-ifix010_VS2015&includeSupersedes=0&source=fc

We do have support for this out there as noted above.  My understanding is that we support Visual Studio 2015 on RTC 5.0.2 and RTC 6.0 via an IFix on top of those respective releases.  For RTC v6.0.1 the support is built in.  RTC v6.0.1 is due out very soon.   It should be available on jazz.net (RTC 6.0.1) by the very end of the third week of December, which is our internal target date for eGA plus or minus a day or two.

Does Rational has any support for ClearCase 8.0.1 integration with VS 2015 ?
