Questions on floating license

T M (8876188143) | asked Jun 05 '09, 9:43 a.m.
RTC 1.0.1.1 on Windows XP.

1. The default timeout period is 120 mins. Can I decrease this period?

2. I got the contributor floating license jar file. From the web console, I went to "Server -> License Key Management -> Floating License Server" and uplaoded the jar file. On this page, I'm supposed to enter the number of purchased licenses in a box and I can enter any number here and save. Is there no check for this?

3. If a user is assigned a "Rational Team Concert - Floating Contributor" he can't even submit a work item. It just hangs on the WI saving step with the "saving ...." message displayed. But it works fine when a static license is assigned to a user. Is this a known problem with the floating license?

Please let me know.

Thanks!

1. No you cannot decrease that timeout, but you can increase it =).

2. There is no check for the number you enter other than the fear of
losing IBM support and legal issues.

3. That is not a known problem. If the user has a Floating Contributor
CAL assigned then they should be able to open workitems.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

- How do I increase the timeout period?
- On the "Server -> License Key Management", I see:

Rational Team Concert Standard (Unlocked) Floating Contributor

What "unlocked" actually means here? Does it mean it is not pre-assigned to any user?

Thanks!
