session timeout on step 3 when rebasing a design manager workspace

I'm running Design Manager 5.0.2 along with the other CLM 5.0.2 applications on Websphere application server 8.5.5. Everything seems to be working fine on design manager except for when I try to rebase a workspace. When I reach step 3 I just get an error message saying 'Your session has timed out. Press the 'Cancel' button to discard this session and start over.' and am unable to go any further. There's no error code or any record in the WAS log files which relate to this error. How can I resolve this?
