RTC Server plugin installation supports P2 format?

Hi,
I know that in order to install a plugin in a RTC server an update site needs to be created from the eclipse plugins/feature.

Since the update site packaging format is outdated I was wondering whether P2 packaging format is also supported now or in future planned.
