Using RDM 5.0.2 and Rhapsody 8.1.1.
In the case where a Rhapsody mode is being managed as an actively managed model, there are sometimes where a user may not always be connected to the server. For example... Working on a model outside the office or on a test track, in the field .... Many places where intranet connection is not available. I do see in the RDM settings options for Rhapsody there is a checkbox in rhapsody for "Share on save". This is step in the right direction but doesn't seems to satisfy the entire scenario. Here is the user scenario that we would like to accomplish in actively managed mode. Actively managed mode provides the best and easiest users experience for interacting with RDM and Rhapsody and the scenario outlined below is only exercised 10-20% of the time. 1.) User opens Rhapsody, and "opens model for Design manager". - >This will load the model into the workspace location that can be found on the Design manager settings window, 2.) User will close down Rhapsody, and disconnect from the network. (imagine someone going to work on this model while in the field with no internet connection). 3.) While disconnect from the network, the user navigates to the workspace location where the Rhapsody model from RDM was loaded. They open the model from this location and make some modifications. **Note ...the Model that is under RDM control and the model that is on the user's laptop are no longer in sync. How would the user bring these model changes back into RDM once they are connected to the network? Is this possible? Things we have noted: * Connect to the network, Open the model from the local workspace location. Save the model from within Rhapsody. The new model elements are not updated in RDM. * Load Model from RDM will over write the changes in the workspace. Is there a way to handle this scenario when using RDM in actively managed mode? |
Accepted answer
Currently Rhapsody does'nt support this functionality.
Downloading the model to the local disk (using Save us...) is just copying to the model to the user's machine. For the moment the user can only re-import the original model to the server once again.
