Unable to open or create backlog plans with eclipse plan editor

I'm using the Luna 4.4.1 eclipse distribution with RTC 4.0.5 client ans server. When I try to open any existing backlog plan or create a new backlog plan with the plan editor I get this error. 
An internal error occurred during operation: "Retrieving Data". See the error log for details.  I see in other posts similar error was to have been fixed in the 4.0.2/4.0.3 time frame.

I tried to paste the error stack here but it gets flagged as spam.

I would say Eclipse Luna 4.4 is not supported

I reverted back to Kepler and RTC 4.0.5 and this issue went away.
