How do I make a field mandatory in work item editor?

Steve Francisco (26139) | asked May 14 '09, 11:44 a.m.
I am customizing my work item editor. I have added some custom attributes and would like to make some of them show as mandatory (with a little asterisk beside them). I could not find a way to do that in the project area editor, but it seems like a reasonable feature to have. Is there a way? I'm using RTC 1.0.1.1.

You can set that at:
Team Configuration -- Operation behavior

Look for the Operation = Work Items, option Save Work Item.
There you can defined the "Required Properties" preconditions for the desired WI attributes.

Hope this help

Thanks Claudia - that works nicely. However some of the fields are not available to select. The one I wanted was, but there are some enumeration attributes that I can't seem to mark as mandatory. Is that expected?

Yes Steve, same behavior here.
I think it's a current limitation of 1.0.1.1 release.

You are right. Enumeration attributes can be marked as required only in
2.0.
