Ask a question

Create query which shows children indented.

Robert Elliott (101116) | asked May 12 '09, 12:08 p.m.
Hi, I am wanting a query of stories. Each of those stories has one or more children. I want my results to show the stories with each child indented under the parent story.

I don't need to drill down or have twisties or anything else show. Just a flat list of stories with their associated children indented under them. Sounds simple.

Can anyone advise if it is possible to do this? If you can, can you provide the steps or a reference to directions which detail how I do it.

Hello rpelliottjr,

To my knowledge it is possible.

In the query view (the reverse triangle to the very left of the view) and
in the result layout you can configure the query to show new attributes or
relationships. Pick the relationships and pick the children relationship.
The query result then shows the stories and for stories that have children
a plus icon in front of them. Expand that and you see the children.

BTW, iteration plans should also show the children of the stories.

Ralph,

Is this in RTC 2.x? I am running Version: 1.0.1.1 and I don't see the
reverse triangle on the left and I don't see a way to a way to show the
new relationship.

Hello Paul,

no, that is 1.x

If you have a qork item query running. select the third icon (Menu) from
the right in the Actions bar of the view (Eclipse Client). From the right
there are Maximize, Minimize and Menu.
Open Menu and it says Relationships. Configure the query as you like.
