RQM Work Item / Defect Customization Options?

Hello all, I posted this in the RTC forum but think it may be better suited here since it's more specifically addressing RQM work item customization...

****

I'm working on a PoC/demo to customize RQM work items to match a customer's current defect and change process. Can someone advise on the following items I need to include in the process and let me know if these are possible, or if not, when they are expected in Jazz/RQM? FYI, I'm using RQM 1.0.1.1 with RTC client 1.0.1.1 for editing.

** In work item presentation -- ability to create a short text field (ie. Phone number). If I use small string as the custom attribute and add it to my presentation, it always defaults to a large, multi-line text box when displaying in the web client. Is there a way to make them smaller (ie. the size you would expect for a phone number)?
** Adding "Contributors" for multiple roles. From what I can tell, besides the "Created By" attribute, you can only specify another field for a user of type "Owner". Is there a way to add multiple other Contributors and give them a custom label so that I can have multiple users listed in the work item for different areas of responsibility (Tester, Analyst, Manager, etc)?
** Backwards linking to RQM test record? I can create a defect from a test result and have the link to the defect # available in RQM. Is it possible to have the associated TER # or a link to the TER available from the Defect/work item in RTC as well?

If the above is not doable in the short-term, is the suggested path to customize as much of the initial defect submission as possible in RQM and then leverage a custom CQ schema and the connector to allow for more robust change record configuration? My hope would be to allow the RQM testers to submit defects and associate them with the TERs, while still allowing all the custom fields, workflow, user selection fields, links, etc that we can currently do in CQ. So a tester would submit a defect through a TER in RQM, a majority of the change process would occur on the CQ side, while providing status updates (ie. fixed in version X) back into RQM for the testers. Or am I totally off-base here... :)

Thanks!
Andy

Hello,

I'm also interested in this topic.

Currently evaluating RQM and I'm finding it difficult to ascertain the types of customisation available with RQM forms, field validation, workflow etc.
I've probably been spoilt by ClearQuest...

Can anybody point us to some reference material even?

Thanks

I too, have been spoiled by years and years of ClearQuest. I would be interested in the answer to the above questions as well.

Hi, I believe that this item is planned for 2.0 -
** Backwards linking to RQM test record? I can create a defect from a test result and have the link to the defect # available in RQM. Is it possible to have the associated TER # or a link to the TER available from the Defect/work item in RTC as well?

As for the rest, I am still searching for information. Thanks.

Hi, can we customize any fields in the defect form. I would like to add new fields like - "type of defect issue"; "Type of Testing" etc.
We are using RQM2.0.

Like Test plan and test case can we customize defect form also?We need few more fields in the form like : whether the defect is accepted, rejected or deffered, which phase of testing it is injected and detected.

All of these customizations are possible and quite easy. You will need to open a connection to the RQM Project Area using the RTC client program. This allows you to customize workflow, forms, attributes, and workflow bindings in any way you want.
