Assuming that the two teams belong to the same project, you can move the work item by changing the "Filed against" field. Here's how it looks in the Web client.
If the new team does not show up in the Filed Against field, you might need to associate the team with a work item category. You can check the RTC documentation to define work item categories. Here's the link to the page in the latest docs; here's the link to the page in the 2.0 docs.

What types of items do you mean? Do you mean contributors (that' what's in a team area) or a work item that's Filed Against a category that's associated with the Team area.
