Is Rational planning on doing updates to any of the out of the box deployed templates with the tool? Scrum, Agile, etc.?

Is it possible to obtain just these templates separate from the entire RTC install?

I am not aware of any additional out-of-box process template in RTC 2.0.

I will double check with the process team.

Regarding your 2nd questions, I am trying to guess your usage model.

Are you talking about importing 2.0 templates to an existing RTC install? Or you are thinking about importing the RTC templates to other Jazz based product where those templates might not be made available?

I am trying to understand if future versions of the out of the box templates are planned for each RTC release, or if these will stay static.

If they are constantly evolving, I would like a way to store each "version" of these templates so I have a shot in time of the template that was delivered to clients. For example, if RTC 1.0 was packaged with 1.0 of the Scrum template, and RTC 2.0 will be packaged with 2.0 of the Scrum template, I would like to be able to store each version as an artifact outside of RTC.

Here are some quick answers:
For Q#1: Some of the pre-defined templates may have some updates in RTC 2.0. See 79687 and related.

For Q#2: We do not have any plans for this. Can you please submit an Enhancement, and tag it as "manbeta2"? Thanks!

I've submitted work item 80682:
"Would like comprehensive list of all changes (since the last release)
to any of the pre-defined process templates"

Note that the XML source for these templates may not be usable outside
of the RTC release they are associated with, because they may contain
XML elements that do not exist in previous releases.

I don't think it makes sense to have the templates available outside RTC
2.0. They cannot be imported to any other version of RTC.

What is your reason for wanting the templates available separately?

What is your reason for wanting the templates available separately?


The goal is to be able to store in Source Control the version of the template that was deployed to users.

If Rational is planning on releasing multiple iterations of process templates, we need to be able to track which versions were released, and be able to spin up a project based on each version of the template for troubleshooting purposes of our users.
