What is a good application to use for regression testing RRC and RTC?

 When we do upgrades we like to do regression testing. We are trying to create automated test cases but have been running into issues with applications HP Quicktest Pro, Selenium IDE, and Rational Functional Tester interacting with objects appropriately. Some of the objects within RRC and RTC cannot be interacted it by the applications and are not trying to just record mouse movement to replicate an actual person using the tools. What tools are used for testing internally and what advice is there towards regression testing RRC and RTC

While this is not my area, it is my understanding that the CLM teams use Selenium for doing our automated testing.
